VIDEO: WHEN FACING THE INCONVENIENCE OF SNOW, MAKE ART!
Tokyo has recently experienced heavy snowfall and the bustling streets became even more chaotic as everyone was trying to navigate the slippery roads and flights were cancelled. This has been the first heavy snowfall in Tokyo for four years.
Aside from the chaotic inconvenience, many people just went about making the best of it, turning the snow into art with insane sculptures of their favourite cartoon characters. You know, everywhere else in the world expects to see perfectly acceptable snowmen created from three balls of snow. But in Tokyo, old-school snowmen just don't cut it. Behold the Snoopy, snow dragons and even Minions of the snow!
Why wouldn't a normal snowman cut it in Tokyo? A local man explained: “The name for snowman, Yuki Daruma, doesn't mean snowman, it means snow Daruma. Daruma is from the Daruma doll, which is based on Bodhidharma, a Buddhist monk who, according to the tales, had his arms and legs fall off during meditation. That's why Japanese snowmen have only two layers.”
Would these snow sculptures put your snowmen to shame? Check them out in the video below:
