WHEN REFEREES LOSE THEIR COOL

Being a referee is not always easy, especially when you're dealing with fighters in the ring. Sometimes they lose their cool, that's what this video is all about.

Referees are responsible for the wellbeing of the boxers or mixed martial arts (MMA) fighters that step into their ring. When you're dealing with a physical sport that, by its nature, is dangerous, the referee needs to be level-headed at all times.

For the most part, this is the case. But, on the rare occasion, a referee loses his cool and the fight takes on a new life. There are a variety of reasons that this can happen, but one thing's for sure, the referee is usually a talented fighter himself.

Sometimes, it's a dirty fighter that won't listen and stop fighting. In the case of MMA, a few referees have had to restrain a fighter by putting them in a chokehold. Other times, a boxer will take a pot-shot at either their opponent or even the referee himself. This is usually a poor decision as the ref will unleash an ass-whipping on the transgressor.

Ultimately, these referees have a job to do, but they will lose their cool if someone is being unsporting, and it's so satisfying for anyone watching to see the referee deal a swift blow or choke to put the fighter in his place.

We salute you, referees, for stepping up and taking charge, even if that does mean getting physically involved. It's not an easy job when you're dealing with testosterone-filled men and women who are trained to dish out pain.
