AIRBNB AMAZINGLY RECREATES THE ICON FLOATABLE PIXAR MOVIE
A beloved Pixar film, Up, is known for its iconic image of a house floating into the air, attached to thousands of colourful balloons. This charming house, owned by the sullen Carl Fredricksen, has inspired movie buffs to imagine themselves travelling to their dream destination at some point in the future. Now, a portion of this wish is being fulfilled by Airbnb. The company has meticulously recreated the Up house in honour of the film's 15th anniversary, and it even floats!
Those who want to stay in the Up house will have to travel to Abiquiu, New Mexico, which has red rocks, rather than a far-off part of South America. Although Airbnb has installed 8,000 balloons throughout the property, a crane that raises the residence several feet above the ground is what really brings the illusion to life.
In the voice of Fredricksen, Airbnb writes, “I don’t always like visitors, but I guess it’s pretty nice to have them now that it’s just me and Dug. So, come stay in my cosy home I made with my dear Ellie. My greatest adventures have happened here, and I learned that the best ones are always with someone you love, so bring your pals to kickstart your very own Adventure Book and watch as my house drifts off before you depart.”
There are lots of things to do after you've finished touring the house. During the day, you can assist Mr. Fredricksen by first gathering supplies for a picnic basket and creating your own Adventure Book. You can have a stargazing party on the lawn at night. The Up house is a part of the unique international experiences that comprise Airbnb's Icons collection. Additional experiences offered by the Icons collection include a night at the Ferrari Museum in Maranello, Italy, a visit to the X-Men mansion in Westchester, New York, and a stay at the Musée d'Orsay in Paris during the 2024 Olympic Games.
