DOG STROLLS INTO POLICE STATION AND REPORT HIMSELF MISSING
In the early morning the Odessa Police Department in Texas received a very unexpected visitor. A friendly dog strolled through the doors and hopped up onto the counter.
It was clear that the little pup was eager to let officers know that something is not quite right. To be more specific, a certain someone had gone missing from home. It turns out it was the adorable pooch himself.
Sergeant Rusty Martin was one of the officers who received the dog. It didn’t seem that the pup was too distressed by his "lost dog" status, as he was just too happy for having a bit of fun. Sergeant Martin explained, "We were all excited to have him in the building. We had a tennis ball and threw it in the lobby for a bit. Everyone loved on him.”
Despite enjoying the unexpected visitor’s visit and tail wags, the officers had a case to solve. Officers noticed that the pup was wearing a collar, however after trying to find info on it, they saw that the ID tag had fallen off. The officials called in animal control to hopefully find a microchip to help identify the dog.
However, right before animal control arrived, the case took a turn. After the pooch may have decided that he'd been "missing" long enough, he headed straight back to his family.
Martin posted the incident on Facebook and revealed l, "He ran out just as quick as he came in. The owner responded the next day [to say that] it was his dog and he had returned home. He lives about a mile from the station."
The adventurous dog’s named was revealed to be Chico, and seeing that he managed to discover that he was the one missing and solve the case, we can now say that it’s officer Chico. "I was impressed. He may just be cut out for this work."
