FARMER FINDS EXTREMELY RARE MIRROR-LIKE SCARAB BEETLE
Michael Farmer was walking around his property in Costa Rica when he stopped and saw something strange in the leaves of a fruit tree. It's a small piece of metal that seems to move. He picked it up to see what it was and realized it contained a type of insect called a Chrysinimbat. These colourful insects remained dead long enough for Farmer to capture incredible images of the material on their shells. “I was surprised how beautiful it was,” he admitted. “[I’ve never seen anything like this.” In a few images, you can see the line acting like a white mirror. “It’s one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever seen,” Farmer said, “a wonderful feeling involved.”
Sightings of these insects are becoming fewer and fewer as their populations decline due to loss of space and collectors, making these encounters even more special. Fortunately, the farmer carefully placed the anacamptic virus back on the leaf, and it quickly flew away. The farmer said he was "not a big fan of insects" but "they always surprise me." I can't wait to see what else. "
