FOLLOWING THE CANCELATION OF HIS 2023 WORLD TOUR, JUSTIN BIEBER RESPONDS TO CLAIMS THAT HE IS MILLIONS IN DEBT
Justin Bieber's team has spoken out on the 'stories' about the singer allegedly ending up in debt following his cancellation of his world tour and why he won't be 'deterred'. After receiving a Ramsay Hunt syndrome diagnosis earlier in the year, Justin Bieber revealed in September 2022 that his global tour would not be going forward.
The singer of "Beauty and a Beat" took to Instagram to explain that he "wasn't able to complete the North American leg" of his Justice World Tour and that, due to his health issues, he had been forced to cancel on the advice of his family, physicians, and the rest of his team. According to sources cited in a Hollywood Reporter piece published yesterday (April 16), Bieber has been left in significant debt as a result of the singer's announcement the following year that he would also have to cancel his tour dates in Europe, Australia, and the US.
According to the Hollywood Reporter piece, more than 100 crew members were let go when Bieber cancelled his world tour. The outlet further claims that Bieber received a $40 million advance from the promoter of the tour, failed to fulfil the terms of the contract, and owes the promoter a "huge debt" as a result of not finishing the tour dates.
According to "insider sources," Bieber's management at the time allegedly covered the "huge debt" of over $20 million as a loan, which he hasn't yet fully repaid.
The 31-year-old's team told the outlet: "Any source that is trying to sell you a story about alleged financial distress … either doesn’t understand the entertainment industry or, more likely, is trying to paint an unflattering portrait of Justin, which bears no resemblance to reality."And his team has since released an additional statement to US Weekly reading: "This is just clickbait stupidity based on unnamed — and clearly ill-informed — ‘sources,’ disappointed that they no longer work with Justin.
"These pointless rumours and false presumptions will persist while Justin paves his own path. However, they won't stop him from remaining dedicated to doing the right thing." In the past, Bieber has been transparent about how he manages his illness, sharing intimate videos on social media to help followers understand the sickness. According to the Cleveland Clinic, Ramsay Hunt syndrome, also known as herpes zoster oticus, happens when the varicella-zoster virus (shingles) reactivates and spreads to the facial nerves close to the inner ear.
It continues: "It may cause weakness or stiffness on one side of your face, based on which branch of the facial nerve is affected. This may make it difficult to close your eyes. It may also make it hard to wrinkle your forehead or make facial expressions such as smiles or frowns. "It may also cause drooping and/or paralysis on one side of your face. This can cause slurred speech, and it may make it difficult to eat."
Bieber considered the "exhaustion" he had been experiencing and the necessity of putting his "health a priority" when he announced the cancellation of his tour. He posted a video that demonstrated the severity of his facial paralysis and showed how "very bad" the disease is.
"I wish it weren't the case, but my body is clearly telling me that I need to slow down," he continued. I'll be using this time to rest, unwind, and regain my full strength so that I can do what I was meant to do. I hope you all understand. "I’m gonna get better and I’m doing all these facial exercises to get my face back to normal and it will go back to normal, it’s just time and we don’t know how much time it’s gonna be."
