WIFE OF WEEZER BASSIST SCOTT SHRINER ARRESTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER AND SHOT BY POLICE
Following reports of a hit-and-run, police shot Weezer bassist Scott Shriner's wife and charged her with attempted murder, according to the police. After the reports of a hit-and-run on the 134 Freeway, police swarmed Eagle Rock, a neighbourhood in Los Angeles, on Tuesday, April 8. The California Highway Patrol launched a massive manhunt when the Los Angeles Police Department reported that three suspects had escaped the freeway crash scene and entered the residential area at approximately 3:25 p.m. PT. Police found a lady outside the residence of Weezer bassist Jillian Shriner, who was allegedly carrying a firearm, as they were looking for the trio.
The 51-year-old, who was not involved in the hit-and-run, apparently refused to drop the weapon when cops asked her 'numerous times' and allegedly went on to point the handgun at officers. The musician's wife was then attacked by officers who opened fire, according to TMZ, who injured her in the shoulder. After being shot, the New Jersey-born novelist allegedly returned inside her house, surrendered with a second woman, later revealed to be the family's babysitter, and received treatment for a non-threatening gunshot wound at a nearby hospital.
After a search of the property, a 9 mm handgun was discovered. Since then, Jillian has been charged by police with attempted murder in connection with the encounter. LAPD added that no officers or other civilians were injured during the shootout and that Jillian was not involved in the hit-and-run report.
According to KLTA, Jillian married singer Scott Shriner in 2005, and the two have since been released from police custody. The bassist joined the rock band Weezer in 2001 after replacing Mikey Welsh. The pair share two adopted children and live in the same residence. As for the crash, the news outlet reports a multi-vehicle hit-and-run sparked chaos in LA while cops launched a wide-scale manhunt.
Two individuals are still at large, while one man was reportedly arrested in his underwear. At least one of the suspects was seen walking away from the crash scene, witnesses said to KTLA. According to CBS News, the suspect was apprehended by LA police near the intersection of Waldo Place and Eagle Vista Drive and is anticipated to face charges of felony hit-and-run.
According to reports, he had also been reduced to his underwear and was trying to fit in by watering plants and swimming in a domestic pool. A woman with moderate injuries who was involved in the freeway collision was sent to the hospital. The other two crash suspects, who are thought to be men, have not yet been identified.
