GIANT SLIDE SHUT DOWN HOURS AFTER OPENING DUE TO AIRBORNE RIDERS
We adults still enjoy to feel our inner child from time to time, and what is better than giant slides? Giants slides is the perfect chance to feel like a kid again, if only for a fleeting minute or two. However, there where some brave adults and children who wished they had let this one slide. With the grand opening of the Giant Slide in Belle Isle Park, Michigan, several people had to try it out. After being closed for two years due to the pandemic, the undulating metal slide reopened once again in middle August. But, this time it was shut down once again after only four hours.
In the now viral video on Twitter, it is clear why the slide was closed just hours later. Riders were going so fast down it that they were launched into the air before crashing down onto the slide’s hills. This doesn’t just happen once on your way down. Riders bounced, and launched into the air a few times until they reached the bottom.
The Michigan Department of Natural Resources (MDNR), decided it best to close the Giant Slide in order to re-touch its wax and make other adjustments. After making some changes, the MDNR revealed that it is safe to ride and enjoy again and shared the video of the demo ride to their Facebook page.
