DEER AND DOG BUILD STRONG FRIENDSHIP OVER FENCE

Home owner, Holly Faulconer, first noticed an adorable deer making visits to her home to steal seed from her bird feeder. However, soon after she started to realise that the little fawn had another reason for visiting.

The brave deer, who she named Sassafras, started to connect with Faulconer’s dog, Huey. And it became clear that the little deer wanted to visit her new best friend.

Huey was rescued by Faulconer nine years ago, and the two has since been inseparable. Huey is very protective of his mom, so Faulconer was surprised when he started showing interest in befriending Sassafras instead of seeing the curious deer as a threat.

She explained, “Huey was a little confused at first, and definitely cautious. I would just talk to them both and make sure they both felt safe. Slowly, they just started talking over the fence!”

Sassafras frequently comes to visit her best friend to exchange interesting stories. Sometimes, Sassafras even let her two babies tag along to visit. “It’s absolutely adorable. I love watching them.”
