GIFTED 9-YEAR-OLD ENROLLED TO BECOME A PASSIONATE PEDIATRIC NEUROSURGEON
It's conceivable that a child nowadays would say something like "actor," "athlete," or perhaps "astronaut" when asked what they want to do with their lives. But Aiden Wilkins, a nine-year-old genius, has goals that are distinct from those of the typical child. He's already making good progress towards his goal of becoming a paediatric neurosurgeon. Despite his youth, Aiden is already enrolled in Ursinus College's collegiate program. He attends school with students at least twice his age, making him the youngest student in the institution's history. In addition to attending lectures three times a week, he is a sophomore at Reach Cyber Charter School, a virtual high school, where he lives with his family in Collegeville, Pennsylvania.
“The reason why I want to be a pediatric neurosurgeon is mainly because I like helping kids around my age. It’s sad to see kids around my age with neurodisabilities, so I want to help them out. I would watch an anatomy movie and was always amazed when I saw the brain," the young child reveals, describing how he has been captivated by medicine since he was three years old.
According to his mother, Veronica, Aiden has demonstrated his abilities since he was a little boy, even younger than he is now. Shortly after learning to talk, he began drawing mathematical equations, reading signs, and correcting people's phrases.
According to Aiden's mother, "it's fantastic because he's making history and you know he feels great." "I believe it's crucial to be heard and seen. It's all Aiden, which is why I'm so proud of him. Everything is natural. He gets everything he wants, and I'm simply in the background."
Balamurali Ambati, who graduated from the Mount Sinai School of Medicine at the age of 17 years and 294 days, currently holds the record for being the youngest doctor in the world, according to the Guinness World Records. Aiden might easily break the record if he continues to put in the effort. Ultimately, however, his primary motivation is to serve others, whether that involves providing medical care or simply encouraging others to be their best selves. "What I really want people to know is that, based on my story, all you have to do is work hard to achieve your goals," he says.
