JOHNNY DEPP OPENS UP ABOUT SOAP OPERA TRIAL AFTER ARRIVING IN SPAIN
After arriving in the nation where Amber Heard moved, Johnny Depp spoke about his "soap opera" trial.
The actor just arrived in San Sebastian, where he is having the world premiere of Modi - Three Days on the Wing of Madness, his second feature film directed. The film chronicles a few days in the life of Italian artist Amedeo Modigliani.
Starring Stephen Graham, Al Pacino, Antonia Desplat, and Riccardo Scamarcio, the movie is set amid World War Two.
Every [character] has a backstory because, let's face it, I've experienced a fair share of life's hardships.
"Perhaps yours did not become a soap opera. Really, it's televised," he remarked.
However, everyone experiences what they experience. Thus, to witness these individuals poised to earn their stripes... I find something incredibly lovely about those days spent in a sketchy neighbourhood, not far from Hollywood Boulevard, in a small studio apartment. They were hardy. They were beautiful despite being rough, ugly, strange, and a variety of other negative traits.
Of course, it must be acknowledged that the most noteworthy and "televised" aspect of Depp's life in recent years has been his trial involving his ex-wife, Heard.
The Pirates of the Caribbean actor sued Heard in 2022 for defamation; she later countersued, accusing him of spearheading a "smear campaign" against her.
Following the court proceedings, which were broadcast on television across the globe, Depp was granted $15 million (£12 million), which the court subsequently capped at $10.35 million (£8.27 million).
Heard was awarded $2 million (£1.6 million) in damages in a different verdict.
Heard pulled back from the spotlight after that "soap opera" of a court case and relocated to Spain with her daughter.
Additionally, according to local media, she was questioned about Depp's entry into the nation while attempting to move on with her life and find some privacy.
According to reports, she replied, "I love Spain, and I'm living here in Madrid.
"I feel incredibly fortunate to be here, and I'm content and at peace right now, so I don't feel like thinking or talking about my past."
In November 2022, a source told PEOPLE that Heard "is able to just be a mom" while she is living there.
She is with her girl every day. They go on walks, go to parks, and spend quality time together. Amber is an amazing mother."
