PHOTOGRAPHER BREAKS “CRAZY CAT LADY” STEREOTYPE BY CAPTURING GROWN MEN AND THEIR ADORABLE CATS

There are two types of people in this world, cat people and dog people, and off course the category of its own, the cat ladies.

However photographer David Williams broke the crazy cat lady stereotype by capturing various of men who also identify with the latter group. Who said cats are only a women’s best friend and companion? 

His project titled Men & Cats started back in 2009 as a way to break the stereotype surrounding crazy cat lady. Believe it or not there are also men out there who love their four legged felines as much as a crazy cat lady does. 

Over the years Williams photographed guys in their homes and on the street with their feline companion. And yes it also just as adorable.

The documentary-style images are not only a portrait of people and animals, but of the places that they live. As one would expect in a crazy cat lady’s home, many of the scenes and homes of the men also featured cat-related items that are part of the space they and their feline companions share. Some of these items included litter boxes, toys, and feline-related artwork. “I wanted to show that regardless of gender, many people have found the joy that cat companionship can bring.”he documentary-style images are not only a portrait of people and animals, but of the places that they live. However, Williams are also very familiar with the cat life as he currently lives in Brooklyn with his own adorable cat he loves and adores proving that cats can make anyone happy no matter what.
