SOUTH AFRICAN COUPLE GETS DREAM WEDDING AFTER FACING CRITICISM FOR THEIR KFC PROPOSAL
Some couples have highly produced, extravagant, and grandiose proposals. Others, meanwhile, decide to pop the question at more subdued but poignant times. In one instance, Hector Mkansi, a South African, proposed to Nonhlanhla Soldaat, his partner, at KFC. Despite some opposition to the gesture, the couple's situation ultimately worked out.
Even though the gesture was heartfelt, this wasn't Soldaat and Mkansi's first time proposing. The couple wed in a modest ceremony in 2012—far from their ideal wedding—after meeting in 2010. Mkansi told CNN, "We had the ceremony, but I knew this wasn't what my wife and I wanted."Hoping to make it up to her, he began planning and decided to propose at her favourite place to eat—KFC.
The moment was made possible in large part by the restaurant staff. "The restaurant staff was taken aback by the request, but they contributed to making the momentous occasion. When our food arrived, she opened it to discover the rings, which is when I got down on my knee," he remarked. Fortunately, the event was captured on camera and circulated, eventually making its way to KFC South Africa.
A tweet ridiculed the choice, observing that "men are so broke they propose at KFC," even though some people thought the idea was adorable. Regrettably, the disparaging remark spread. That's why businesses and people are committed to helping the couple have their ideal wedding to make it a memorable occasion for everyone concerned.
Gifts began to arrive, spearheaded by KFC, which had engaged an event planner for the couple. Everything for and around the celebration was taken care of, from the essential wedding components (video and photo services, makeup, and attire) to a location, a honeymoon getaway, and performances by Grammy-nominated musicians.
Ultimately, on December 31, 2019, the couple celebrated the wedding of their dreams and this year welcomed a baby girl into their family.
"We continue to be in shock, and occasionally we have to ask one another if this is actually happening. We are incredibly appreciative of God and everyone who has contributed to our little love tale, Mikansi said “Our dream has come true, we never in a million years thought something like this would happen to us.”
