VIDEO: DEMI LOVATO PROUDLY TAKES IT ALL OFF FOR VOGUE
Demi Lovato is at it again with her fierce personality and strong messages for young women everywhere. She is naturally beautiful and isn't afraid to flaunt it. At only 25, she has been very open about her personal struggles with mental health and has also fiercely promoted natural beauty, often showing pictures of herself bare faced. She has moved towards an image of raw honesty from her eating disorders to her drug and alcohol addiction and continued with this message in her recent Vogue project.
She was shown in a video in which she sits down at a dressing table with a full face of glam makeup – with old-fashioned radio shows playing in the background talking about the importance of makeup. She slowly starts to take off all of the makeup and removes her hair extensions, cleansing her face and showing a close up of her bare skin. Vogue then posted a video of an interview with Demi in which she says: “I think society tells us we need makeovers, but why can’t we embrace the beauty that we naturally have? I love makeup. I love doing my hair; I have extensions, but there’s a time and a place for everything, and natural beauty needs to be celebrated.”
She has taken her fans along her journey of recovery and has been honest about her insecurities and has become an icon for body-positivity on social media, posting photos and honest messages about herself to pave the way for others to feel body-positive too. She says: “So, I’m insecure about my legs in this picture but I’m posting it because I look so happy,” she captioned one photo in January. “This year I’ve decided I’m letting go of my perfectionism and embracing freedom from self-criticism.”
Her video had four million views in less than a day and even those who aren't necessarily avid Demi Lovato fans can't help but say, "you go girl!"
