The inaugural NBA Awards Show opened with a hilarious skit in which comedian Will Ferrell and music superstar Drake gave a gym full basketball players a lesson on showmanship.
In the two-minute sketch, Drake, as "NBA handshake specialist" Coach Palmer, and Will Ferrell – as Coach Murphy, an "NBA Dexterity Technician" – are tasked with improving a team's celebration game.
Toronto Raptors star Demar Derozan protests the coaches' strategy, leading Drake to quip, "Demar I say it, the less I like it." Drake and Ferrell proceed to demonstrate several inventive handshakes that are over-the-top; such as "The Jenga," "The Gossip Queen," and "The Prom."
