If you are a Game of Thrones fan you absolutely need to see this. HBO Nordic has paired up with Lapland hotels to create an ice hotel completely sculpted out of snow and ice, named the Snowvillage. However, this wouldn't be the hotel you would want to book for your whole trip because at temperatures of -5ºC, guests generally only stay for one night. Booking is essential since there are only ten rooms, each equipped with a large ice sculpture, the most famous being the white walker with glowing blue eyes that might give you nightmares.

Even the mattresses are encased in ice so guests are provided with thermal sleeping bags. since the whole hotel is made out of snow and ice, they claim that it is constructed out of 20 million kilograms of snow and 350 000 kilograms of ice.....Yikes! There is even a life-size iron throne in the reception of the hotel and, of course, food and drinks are just as important – served in an ice restaurant and bar in glasses carved out of ice.

If you feel like one-upping those couples who have spontaneous weddings in Vegas, there is an ice chapel! The magical hotel is located west of the Finnish Lapland filled with icy adventures like snowmobiling and cross country skiing. A standard room costs $270 per night and the snow suites cost $360. The hotel will officially be opening on the 8th of April 2018.
