MANCHESTER FIRES AMORIM AFTER ROLLER-COASTER MANAGEMENT PERIOD
Following a turbulent tenure at the Premier League powerhouse, Manchester United announced on Monday that manager Ruben Amorim had been fired.
The Red Devils' management "reluctantly made the decision that it is the right time to make a change," according to a club statement. The statement went on, "This will give the team the best opportunity of the highest possible Premier League finish." "The club wishes Ruben well in the future and would like to thank him for his contribution to the club."
When he took over in November 2024, Amorim was given the responsibility of rebuilding the team, but throughout his 14 months in command, he has had difficulty finding consistency. After another lacklustre draw with Leeds United on Sunday, the team is currently ranked sixth in the Premier League.
Amorim hinted on Sunday that he was dissatisfied with the club's leadership's meddling, indicating that friction was undoubtedly growing behind the scenes at Old Trafford. "I would want to clarify that I will not only be the coach but also the team's manager. In what turned out to be his final press conference at United, he stated, "I was really clear on that."
