WEST HAM BOSS NUNO ESPIRITO SANTO APOLOGISE FOR EMBARRASSING LOSS AGAINST WOLVES

After West Ham's 3-0 loss to Wolves, Nuno Espirito Santo apologised, calling the outcome "embarrassing" and acknowledging that he had never felt worse on a football field.

West Ham had a three-point deficit at the break against a team that had not won in the Premier League all season, and they never appeared to be able to rally. West Ham gave their opponents their first clean sheet of the season after failing to compel Wolves goalkeeper Jose Sa to make a single save, extending their own losing streak to nine games. As Nuno is under increasing pressure, West Ham is four points from safety.

"I have to apologise to the supporters, I have to apologise," he declared. "We must apologise to the fans that traveled today; it was a humiliating experience. I don't have much to say other that we apologise for the poor quality of what we demonstrated today.

"We needed much more from our guys," Nuno continued. I don't remember ever feeling worse on a football field than I did today, so it was disgusting how poorly we started and performed.

When asked to explain why his players failed, Nuno said, "It was a failure of many things, mistakes and not reacting to those mistakes, making mistakes and then a second mistake and over and over again not being able to control and create any situation of danger." "I think we didn't achieve one shot on goal, so that says a lot."

On Tuesday night, Nottingham Forest, the side directly above West Ham in the Premier League standings, will pay a visit to the London Stadium. There is work to be done, but there isn't much time.

"Now it's about recuperation, it's a swift turnaround, healing not only physically but more than anything, it's to face the situation and being clear among ourselves that we need much more today," Nuno continued. "What I observed today from our players is not good enough, and I am especially sad to say this."

The Irons did sign a new player. Pablo, who was bought from Gil Vicente in Portugal, was one of the substitutes, although he was not used at Molineux. As West Ham attempts to spend their way out of problems, Taty Castellanos has also been connected to an upcoming transfer.

However, Nuno is aware that it won't matter much until the current players perform much better than they did against Wolves. "It's not just about the players that are coming; I believe that those who are here should develop and make our signings so that they will join us, find themselves in a better club, a team that competes much better than we did today."

West Ham's statistical misery.
Since their final nine games of the 2010–11 season, when they were demoted, West Ham has not won in their past nine Premier League games (D4 L5).
Nuno, who also lost 3-0 with Nottingham Forest against West Ham in August, is the only manager in Premier League history to lose to sides that begin the season at the bottom of the standings with two different clubs.

This season, West Ham has given up 41 goals in the Premier League, their highest total after 20 games in a top-flight season since 1965–66 (44).
This season, West Ham has given up more goals in the first five minutes of games than any other Premier League team (4).
