Meghan Markle, soon to be part of the royal family, has had to make a lot of adjustments to fit the criteria required by the royal family but the queen might just have a heart attack when she finds out that Meghan Markle dated a porn star...
Yes, you read that correctly. Simon Rex, now pretty famous after appearing in a number of movies, admitted that he starred in a number of adult movies to pay the bills, even winning an award titled Best Gay Solo Video in 1997. In 2004, Markle and Rex were both acting in an episode together for a US sitcom called "Cuts" and hit it off after spending the day together on set. He was already a successful model appearing in ads for Calvin Klein, Versace and Levi's while Meghan was still a year away from her first regular-money role as a 'briefcase girl' – holding up a case full of cash – on game show Deal Or No Deal.
They went on a single date, however, Markle turned Rex down for a second date. Rex recounted meeting Markle saying: "I remember flirting with her, cracking jokes and her laughing. My ego loved that, of course," Rex continued. "I don't believe in love at first sight but I believe in lust at first sight and she was really attractive. She's a beautiful girl. But I'm blaming it on the garlic noodles," Rex told The Sun. "To this day that's like an ongoing joke – don't order the garlic noodles that ruined my chances!"
When Rex looks back on their date, he didn't think the polite, gentle Markle and himself were suites, saying: "Meghan seemed well-raised and educated, she wasn't a bad girl. She was kind of a square. That's probably why we didn't hit it off, I'm a little more rough around the edges. When I asked her out again I just got the hint she wasn't into me. I took it on the chin."
While we all have dated people we might not want to remember so clearly, Meghan Markle wins that category seeing that there is a viral picture of her ex posing nonchalantly stretched out naked on a bearskin rug, an unlit cigarette dangling from his mouth and with only a puppy to hide his modesty. Rex – born Simon Rex Cutright – now a 43-year-old comedian and rapper using the name Dirt Nasty (not quite fitting for royalty), proudly displaying his crown jewels on the bearskin rug on Twitter where he posts jokes in a reference to engagement rings, he wrote the other day: "The bigger the diamond, the smaller the d***."
Of his past as a porn star – he was 18 and 19 when he made the films – he says it was to pay the bills. "I went there and did that s***," he said in a 2014 interview. "It was just enough to pay the rent at the time. I was living in the moment." He added: "In hindsight, it wasn't the best move." A source close to the royal family commented on this piece of her past love life saying: "It's a horrid little betrayal, but it won't damage her reputation. She's not a virginal bride like Diana, who was only just out of her teens when she married Charles, but a mature woman of experience with one failed marriage behind her."
It seems that all of the failed relationships are a mere footstep towards her new life as part of the royal family.
