RARE PINK DOLPHIN WELCOMES PINK BABY CALF INTO THE WORLD

What could get more magical than a pink dolphin splashing around in the ocean? Well, a bright pink dolphin and her cute tiny calf, maybe?

The rare pink dolphin, known as Pinky, has been a resident of the Calcasieu Lake in Louisiana. Recently, she was spotted swimming with her baby, who looks exactly like her.

The rare pink bottlenose dolphin was first spotted back in 2007 when boat captain, Erik Rue, saw her swimming alongside her grey mother in the ocean. The captain managed to take photos of the rare pink baby dolphin who was since named Pinky. A sight to behold for everyone sailing on the Calcasieu River.

Captain Rue said, "I feel very fortunate to have seen this incredible mammal. I'm lucky to be able to work and live in the area where such a fantastic creature frequents. The mammal is entirely pink from tip to tail and has reddish eyes. The skin appears smooth, glossy pink and without flaws."

Pinky's rare and uncommon colouring is due to albinism, which means that her body doesn't produce enough pigmentation. Therefore, Pinky has a bright pink colour skin, and her eyes are reddish. Despite her rare condition, Pinky is indeed very healthy and happy and now welcomed her own baby into the world. 

Greg Barsh, a scientist at the HudsonAlpha Institute for Biotechnology, confirmed that "We still see her swimming almost every day in the summertime. We've seen her a lot in the last few weeks. She looks happy and healthy."

Only a while ago, Pinky has been noticed swimming with her own pink baby calf. A local woman, called Bridget Boudreaux, has seen the two cute dolphins on more than one occasion. She stated that "It was amazing to see. I was astonished. My reaction, well, I was in awe about it. It first came up straight out the water, and I was like, "Whoa! That was a pink dolphin! Stop the boat!!'"
