A teenager has proven again why it is crucial to view the property you would like to rent before signing the lease. This 19-year-old, Madison Kohout, accidentally found herself living in a retirement village.
Madison found the two-bedroom apartment listing online, ahead of a move from Oklahoma to Arkansas. Without viewing the property in person, Madison signed the contract for the gorgeous apartment. It wasn't until after she arrived that she realised just what she had signed up for.
After a week of finally living in her new apartment, Madison couldn't stop wondering why all her neighbours were over the age of 65. But it all became clear when she stumbled across a sign explaining she was actually in a senior living community.
Madison shared her surprising story on TikTok, where she showed a video of her browsing for apartments on her laptop. And then, posing in front of a sign which reads: "Senior Citizens Apartments."
The video soon went viral and has been viewed over a million times. In another clip, Madison details how her life in a retirement village is going so far.
"How is life at the old folks home, you might ask? Let me show you."
"Well, whenever I get home, it's usually super quiet because most of my neighbours are asleep by the time I get home." There are other perks to living there. For instance, she can play music whenever she wants to because "some of them can't hear."
"Another fun thing about living in the old folks home is I can always hear about the 'tea' in the town whenever I want." Making it even better is that the people living there are "very friendly". She explained that another positive is that whenever she comes home from a long day at work, "everyone always asks how I'm doing".
