VIDEO: THIS IS PROBABLY THE BIGGEST MOTH IN THE WORLD

German insect enthusiast and breeder, Adrian Kozakiewicz, of InsecthausTV who likes to let his amazing bugs crawl around on his hands and face showed off an absolutely gorgeous giant atlas moth whose earth coloured wings covered the entirety of the young man’s face.

But you don’t need a sci-fi movie to know that, you can just watch this video of a giant moth crawling over a man’s face. Atlas moths were often considered the largest moths in the world. In terms of total wing surface area, but recent sources confer this title upon the Hercules Moth from New Guinea and northern Australia.

Their wingspans are also among the largest, reaching over 25 cm. Females are appreciably larger and heavier than the males. A record specimen of Attacus atlas from Java measured 262 mm, while Thysania is documented to be about 290 mm or more.
