AMAZING GREAT DANE HELPS GIRL WITH BONE CONDITION WALK ON HER OWN
A very touching video from the Smithsonian Channel series Dogs With Extraordinary Jobs describes how a young girl named Bella was able to lead an active life despite her physical limitations thanks to the help of a wonderful Great Dane named George.
Walking is challenging for Bella because she was born with Morquio Syndrome, a genetic disorder that affects bone development. Bella was told she would never be able to walk, ride a bike, or swim, but now she can do all three with George's help. Bella can accomplish anything she sets her mind to, as long as George is there to assist her.
Bella, a young child with a genetic disease that affects her spine and bones, and George share a special bond. Mutual trust and care form the foundation of this bond. George first met Bella through the non-profit Service Dog Project, which places specially trained Great Danes with individuals in need.
"The primary goal of DP is to breed, raise, train, and provide certified service dogs to individuals who struggle with balance or mobility. As the recipient gains more independence, these relationships frequently serve to improve their quality of life."
