SANTA FE HIGH SCHOOL SHOOTING SURVIVOR PAYS TRIBUTE TO FALLEN STUDENTS DURING AMERICAN IDOLS AUDITION

Trey Lewis, a 21-year-old mattress salesman from Texas, auditioned for the 21st season of American Idol. After a flawless performance of Whiskey Myers' "Stone," he told the judges what it meant to be on stage without leaving the audience dry-eyed.
After three celebrity judges — Lionel Richie, Katy Perry, and Like Brian — applauded Louis for his singing skills and compared him to country star Chris Stapleton, Brian asked why he was auditioning for American Idol. Luis explained that he was from the city of Santa Fe, where eight students and two teachers were killed by gunmen who entered the school in May 2018. He added, "I've lost a lot of friends."
Perry wept. "It's not normal. You have to sing here not because you have to go through it, but because you love the music. "I don't have to lose eight friends." "I hope it reminds people that we have to change."
