Whether it's your first time or you've been going for years, a gynaecologist appointment is always going to be slightly awkward – for both parties involved. 

It's literally two people acting completely comfortable (as if a stranger entering your body with gloves is a casual, everyday occurrence) while you secretly feel totally awkward.

There are so many reasons why women feel awkward at a gynecologist appointment – it's kind of weird having a stranger explicitly stare at your private parts, it's even weirder having instruments inserted in there and there's always the embarrassing conversation about your sexual activity where you feel compelled to lie to the doctor – even if you're worried about the dodgy looking rash down there. 

Mainly, just having someone get in there without buying you a drink first is enough to make this kind of appointment awkward for the patient and the doctor. 

We may act like it doesn't phase us at all – but this is what a gynaecologist appointment would be like if it was actually honest.
