BIGGEST CROWD EVER SHOWS UP TO SEE THE LAST UK PERFORMANCE OF ELTON JOHN
After a career spanning over 50 years, legendary singer Elton John gave his final UK performance. This momentous event took place at the 2023 Glastonbury Festival when his biggest hits were on the set including "Saturday", "Candle in the Wind" and "Benny and the Jets".
Fans captured video of the crowds surrounding the pyramid stage and commented that it might be "the biggest ever" and surpassed the 100,000 people who came to see Paul McCartney in 2022. The video of John playing "Rocket Man" shows just how incredible the energy was that night.
At 76, the British pop legend seemed as focused as ever, singing and playing the piano at the same time. His performance of "Rocket Man" lasted over 10 minutes with numerous visuals that made thousands of fans cheer. As John sang the lyrics, fireworks exploded over the Glastonbury crowd not once but several times during the performance of the song.
Photos from the event show how packed it was and how far the crowds stretched. “The energy last night was second to none and I am so grateful to the audience and viewers at home for all your love and support. You will forever be in my heart and soul," John wrote on his Instagram. With over 7 million viewers on the BBC, the play has already become one of the most watched programs of the year. And although the number of visitors has not yet been counted, it is believed to have been the largest crowd in Glastonbury's history.
