BRAVE TURTLE CHASES LIONS AWAY FROM HIS WATERHOLE

While strolling along the Sand River in the Mala Mala Private Game Reserve in South Africa's Kruger National Park, tour guide and photographer Reggie Barreto captured the remarkable sight of a rather brisk turtle fearlessly telling invading lions who had stopped to drink to immediately plug their swimming hole leave .

The little turtle approached the male first and swam under his whiskers to irritate him. Surprisingly, the big cat withdrew. The turtle then used the same tactic on the female, forcing her to retreat as well.
