THE MYSTERY THAT IS CHINESE CULTURE

Eastern and western cultures can be vastly different, which often leads to misunderstanding between people who come from either culture. There are also crazy misconceptions about the Chinese culture thanks to media bias and very little accurate reporting.

As soon as people hear 'China', they immediately think of a communist, overly rule-burdened country – which isn't the case any longer, and no, no one is brainwashed. Chinese culture is seen to be weird from a westerners point of view but it is only viewed as such because certain things are done differently.

These cartoons were created by Siyu, who lives in Beijing, to make light of the misconceptions and share the everyday realities of China. He hopes to educate people in comparing cultures and highlight the differences between the two cultures to spark the interest of the westerners.

He also wants you to know that most Chinese people DON'T eat cats and that Chinese people do actually use spoons.
