VIDEO: PAULA PATTON DISHES THE DIRTY TRUTH ABOUT ROBIN THICKE
Robin Thicke and Paula Patton were together for over a decade and married for almost nine before Patton filed for divorce in 2014, citing irreconcilable differences despite having a son together. The divorce did no end amicably and instead resulted in a vicious custody battle between the two but, since then, Patton has found herself a new man and came clean after tons of controversy over her new love life with real estate agent, Zach Quittman. Rumours spread like wildfire, accusing him of being married, turning their romance into a full-on scandal. But in a recent interview with HelloBeautiful, Patton shot down allegations that she is dating a married man.
“I would just say when I met him he was separated from his wife and he’s in the process of divorce. They’re still married as that happens. He told his wife a while ago and I told Robin. She heard it from him first, not from anybody else. I let Robin know because he’s the father of my child and I thought he had a right to know that I had somebody, since the first time that we been divorced, that I wanted in my life and that I want my child to know.” Previously, being a married woman and having experienced problems in her marriage, Patton said she would never disrespect another person’s marriage and assured the viewers that Quittman did not leave his wife for her. “I would never go into anyone else’s marriage and disrupt it in a million, trillion years. This man was already living in a different home.”
Patton said she is “living in truth and not caring what anyone else thinks” and advises that women younger and older begin to do the same. “The truth is, people don’t really care that much about you. They think about themselves. So they talk about you for a few seconds but then they’re on to their own lives. Start living your life the way you want to and people will respect you because you’re in your truth. You don’t realise it but, when you’re living for people, you’re living a lie and that turns into something very ugly in the end and that’s what causes people to be jealous or to be talking about people.”
She has also spoken very fondly of her new lover during interviews, saying: "He's an amazing human and he just makes me so happy," she said on Live with Kelly and Ryan. "I'm in love. He's the first boyfriend I've had since I got divorced."
Since the dust and drama surrounding her messy divorce has settled, she has also spoken about her relationship with Thicke and claims that she was a ghostwriter for him under the pseudonym Max Haddington. Patton, 42, has credits on tracks like "Magic", "Dreamworld", "Get in My Way" and "Diamonds". She confirmed this in an interview with New York's Hot 97 radio station saying: "We did it together since we were kids. I was with Robin since I was 15-years-old. You know, Robin and I wrote a lot of songs together... My name on the albums as Max Haddington. I was like (to Robin), 'Well, Max Haddington will just seem like another writer with you, so it doesn't seem like you're writing with your girl."
She also said that that had found common ground and were remaining civil for the sake of their son, Julian. In January 2017, she opened up about the ugly parts of their marriage saying Thicke has a "raging, violent temper" and "regularly bedded other women.” His infidelity and abuse were revealed to be the real reason behind the divorce. “Robin quite simply emotionally wore me down," Patton said at the time. "I felt abused, disrespected and depressed. I wanted out of this marriage."
Thicke attempted to make peace after their split by releasing the 2014 album titled Paula. Clearly, it did not work. He was slapped with a temporary restraining order in 2017, but they hashed it out later that year and now share joint custody of their son Julian.
