VIDEO: WOULD YOU SACRIFICE YOUR INNOCENCE TO VISIT THE DARK WEB?
The dark web has earned itself a really bad, dark and disturbing name, for good reason though. Originally the dark web was created to allow users to browse the internet anonymously due to its unencrypted nature, which can only be accessed through networks like "The Onion Router".
The dark web allows the identities and locations of darknet users stay anonymous and cannot be tracked due to the layered encryption system. Unfortunately, it has become a breeding ground for illegal activities that are extremely difficult to track, resulting in the explosion of a mixture of sick content that is rumoured to include everything from hitman services to even human experiments. The black market is also run through the dark web, allowing people to traffic humans or buy and sell drugs and weapons.
Although we do not condone venturing into the depths of the dark web, there have been some sickening first-hand accounts of people who have and, although we can't verify whether or not they are real, we will happily just believe them:
- One day we ran into the deep web. The most disturbing site we found was a comprehensive guide for cooking women. We're not talking about a short joke here. This page had information on what body types to use for specific cuts, how to prepare these cuts, and how to cook the girl so she lives as long as possible. It horrifies me that people way worse than the freaks on Criminal Minds exist.”
- Reddit user Bigwiseguy55 reports, "I posted a comment on a video, and when I went back to that page to watch the video later, someone replied to my comment saying: ‘That is very astute of you Mr. (insert my last name).’
"I didn't internet for like a week. My last name is not a common one.” - Reddit user Cletch says, "Was on Tor, browsing the usuals. Go out to eat foods at the Five Guys. Come back. More Tor. Find a picture of me eating at Five Guys.”
- Reddit user Hosko: "[I found] an ISIS recruiting page on Tor, linked from the Hidden Wiki. (?!?)"
- I found someone selling a “wish pill” online. Basically, you take the pill, make a wish and it's supposed to make it come true.
- There is a website that operates in the deep web where users can upload nude pictures of their ex-girlfriends which would eventually lead to harassment of the person in the picture. The website is now dead due to multiple lawsuits, however, there's another website that has spring up since its demise.
