CHUBBY DOG GETS WAKE UP CALL AFTER NOT BREAKING THE DOGGY DOOR
Even though food can be so great, wesometimes forget about the undesired results when you consume too much. It quickly hits us when we try on our favourite pair of jeans or, in this case, doggy door, and it just doesn’t fit.
The young Labrador, Drax, recently went viral after a hilarious snap of him with a whole door on his back.
Drax was living on the streets of Queensland, Australia, when he was found by Charmaine Hulley's sister who decided to take him in. "My sister found him outside her local supermarket a couple of years ago, just laying there curled up. He looked skinny and uncared for. She put him in the car and he just froze with fear and wouldn’t look at anyone."
At the time, Hulley was living with her sister and her four small dogs. Hulley noticed that Drax started to settle in and started bonding with the new family. Drax adored his new brothers and sisters and soon began to follow them around and even join in on their nap times on the bed. "He’s the most placid dog you could come across. He’s the most loving and happy and laid-back boy that just adores all other dogs," Hulley said.
At first Drax, who still thinks he is a puppy, wasn’t sure what happened. However, in a desperate attempt to get loose, a frustrated Drax who was unaware of his size and strength, ended up taking the whole door off its hinges.
When Hulley moved out into her own home again, she decided to take loving Drax along with her. Quickly, after moving out, she adopted another dog so that Drax could have a brother.
Well, it’s no surprise that going from street dog, to happy spoiled dog will make you gain a few pounds. When Hulley came back with Drax and his brother to visit her sister a few years later, Drax was in for a surprise.
After a day of playing in the yard with his cousins, he followed his smaller cousins through the doggy door and, well, got stuck.
"Dad came home early and saw half the doggy door panel on the ground and looked inside, Drax came wandering down the hallway very casually with it on him. I looked over and Drax was on the stairs looking at me ... my mouth dropped."
Even though his cousins did not hold it against him, once poor Drax realised what had happened, he was a bit embarrassed. But this event was sure a wake-up call for the family, who have decided to put Drax on a diet and cut back on the treats.
Charmaine admits that Drax is perhaps "alittle too loved" in regards to his larger frame. However, she was just making up for the time Drax had lost seeing that love and food wasn’t always a luxury the adorable Drax was afforded.
