DOES KETCHUP BELONG IN THE FRIDGE - HEINZ FINALLY REVEALS ANSWER
Have you ever wondered where you should store your bottle of ketchup? Someone keeps it in the kitchen cupboard and someone in the fridge. However, which one is the correct way? For such a common spice in the cabinet or refrigerator debate, many raise their voices and defend their choice of placement. Now Heinz, the top-selling ketchup brand in the US, has finally settled the dispute.
Heinz UK tweeted on June 27, 2023, “FYI: Ketchup. goes. in. the. fridge!!!” Actually, the answer has been on the product information found on the bottle all along. The Heinz ketchup label reads: “For best results, refrigerate after opening. Shake well before first use.”

This is probably a clear indication that us humans are not very fond of reading labels.
Heinz launched a survey on ketchup storage a day later, and most people already agreed with their vision. 63.2% of users answered that they keep ketchup in the fridge, and 36.8% stayed the same and said it lives in their cupboards.
Many users had a number of questions. "Then why is it on supermarket and store shelves?" asked a user named Dave at the company. To which Heinz UK replied: "Where do you keep your soft drinks Dave?" They also responded to some customers with a cheeky picture of a box of Heinz sitting just above the butter in a supermarket fridge. As with all important debates, there are arguments worth hearing from both sides. Some claim that storing it in the cupboard keeps it at room temperature, which goes better with hot dishes. Others insist that the refrigerator gives the best results.
“Because of its natural acidity, Heinz® Ketchup is shelf-stable,” Heinz said a few years ago. “However, its stability after opening can be affected by storage conditions. We recommend that this product, like any processed food, be refrigerated after opening. Refrigeration will maintain the best product quality after opening.”
