VOICE OVER ARTIST FRANK WELKER PERFORMS ROAR FOR LION KING USING A EMPTY GARBAGE CAN

Have you ever wondered how some of the animal sound have been recreated in the famous Lion King film? Some may have thought that the audio of a real life lion was used, however that was not the case.

The amazing mighty roars of Mufasa and his lion clan was actually created by the very talented voice-over artist Frank Welker. However, he did have one trick up his sleeve to accurately recreate the roars of a lion.

Welker performed a substantial roar into an empty garbage can while recording the sound effects for The Lion King. Using the metal bin to create the sound allowed Welker to get the right amount of acoustical feedback to make the lion’s roar sound even mightier than it actually was.

Welker was known for providing the voices and sound effects for over 100 animated characters for film and television, but we must say that pulling of the mighty roar of a lion which makes your sleeves shake, is one of our favourites.
