LOYAL DOG PROTECTED INJURED DAD FROM THE COLD WEATHER ON TOP OF MOUNTAIN

It’s not always possible to describe the strong bond and friendship between a man and his dog. However one picture may speak louder than a thousand words. Loyal pup named North has been dubbed a hero recently after the heroic Alaskan malamute kept his dad safe in some death fearing conditions.

One Saturday the young hiker got injured 5,600 feet up Mount Velebit. Due to being injured, he couldn’t go anywhere, nor make his way back down. He was stranded high above the ground in severe cold weather. A rescue team of 27 members fought to climb the snowy range, which skirts the Adriatic Sea coast of Croatia, to get to the injured hiker. However their journey had some challenges. Their climb was made more difficult due to the severe weather conditions, ice and broken tree boughs.

But luckily for the hiker, he chose his best dog friend to climb with him. When the sun set and the darkness came, the temperatures severely dropped. However loyal North refused to leave his dad. Instead the sweet pup guarded him and even kept him warm until help finally arrived.

Hrvatska Gorska Služba Spašavanja (HGSS) wrote on Facebook, “Friendship and love between man and dog know no boundaries. North passed without injuries, but his friend, a young mountaineer, was not so lucky. He curled up with him and warmed him with his body.”

Around midnight the rescue team finally  reached the hiker and his dog. The crew were able to save him and got them medical attention the next morning. All thanks to North's commitment and care for his dad, he was able to make it through the night and down the mountain.

"North's loyalty did not end with the arrival of the rescuers. He was one of us, guarding his man for 13 hours. From this example, we can all learn about caring for each other.”

The pup is being hailed a hero, but for the fluffy boy, he was just doing what any furry companion would do - make sure his family is safe.
